Job description

Job Summary: Geisinger is proud to offer a Nursing Assistant position with a $1500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, a minimum hiring rate of $15.75, with increased rates for experienced individuals, and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts! We also offer up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.

Job Duties
  1. Perform a wide range of direct patient care activities and clerical duties as needed to support quality care.
  2. Provide patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice, following the multidisciplinary care plan.
  3. Observe, document, and report patient needs and changes to licensed personnel promptly.
  4. Obtain and maintain specimen integrity according to policies and physician orders.
  5. Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and linen changes.
  6. Provide patient safety watch as assigned.
  7. Transport specimens and perform point-of-care testing and maintenance.
  8. Assist in problem-solving and troubleshooting equipment and supply issues.
  9. Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students.
  10. Handle clerical duties related to patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and order processing.
  11. Coordinate transportation of patients and specimens.
  12. Manage electronic communication and scheduling related to patient care.
  13. Assist in supply ordering and communicate with food services for patient diets.
  14. Operate and maintain clerical equipment, schedule maintenance as needed.
  15. Transport non-controlled medications and blood products as required.

Position Details
  • Full-time, 36 hours/week, days/evenings
  • 3 shifts of 12 hours, 7am - 7:30pm
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Specialty Training Program preferred
  • Minimum 1-year related work experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
