Job summary

Essentia Health in Brainerd/Baxter, Minnesota, is seeking a Nursing Assistant for a 0.6 FTE role with day, evening, and night rotations. You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision and support basic daily activities in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The position requires completion of an approved nursing assistant program or equivalent and BLS certification or the ability to obtain it within 1 month of hire. A strong commitment to patient comfort and safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the listed nursing assistant prerequisites.
• Includes 6 months of patient care experience or approved nursing assistant training.
• Current registration on state nursing assistant registry.

Responsibilities

• Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs
• Providing comfort care and other assistance
• Appropriately and safely transferring patients
• Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping
• Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN
• Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process.

Education

Education Qualifications

Must meet ONE of the following requirements:

• 6 months of patient care experience
• Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program
• Successful completion of an EH provided Nursing Assistant training within one month of hire
• Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
• Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry

This position MUST be able to work the following

• 24 hours/week
• Every Other Weekend
• Rotating 8 Hour Shifts
• Day Shift: 7:00AM - 3:30PM
• Evening Shift: 3:00PM - 11:30PM
• Overnight Shift: 11:00PM - 7:30AM

As a Nursing Assistant, you are responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to:
