Job summary

Providence Little Company Of Mary Torrance Hospital is seeking a Nurse Assistant (NA) to perform delegated routine patient care tasks under the direct supervision of an RN. Responsibilities include EKGs, vital signs, basic patient care, and patient transportation within the unit scope.

Qualified candidates will have an accredited CNA program, nursing assistant program, or be in the second semester of an accredited nursing program.

Qualifications

• Requires graduation from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program or Nursing Assistant program, or completion of the 2nd semester of an accredited Nursing Program.
• Alternative equivalency may include experience as a corpsman, EMT, foreign-licensed RN or MD, Medical Assistant, or Caregiver.

Responsibilities

• Performs delegated routine patient care tasks under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
• May include EKGs, vital signs, basic patient care and transportation.
• Responds to patients and families with age-appropriate communication within unit/department scope.

Job description

The Nurse Assistant (NA) role is a non-licensed health care employee who performs delegated routine and predictable patient care tasks/duties and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). These duties may include, but are not limited to EKGs, vital signs, basic patient care and transportation. Responds appropriately to patients and families with knowledge of age-specific needs based on scope of service of unit/department where assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Coursework/Training: Graduate of any accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program, Nursing Assistant program, or completion of the 2nd semester of an accredited Nursing Program. Or
• Coursework/Training: Graduate of any accredited Nursing Assistant program. Or demonstrated equivalency (such as experience as a corpsman, EMT, foreign-licensed RN or MD, Medical Assistant, or Caregiver).
• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of previous Nurse Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant experience in a hospital or post-acute environment.
