Job summary

UCI Health in Orange, CA is seeking an Emergency Department Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff in a fast-paced acute care setting. You’ll take vital signs, assist with hygiene, and help maintain a safe, clean unit while assisting with routine tasks.

The role requires basic medical terminology knowledge, ability to work nights/weekends/holidays, and English proficiency. Certification as CNA/LVN or current nursing program enrollment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Reads, writes and speaks English effectively.
• CNA or LVN or enrolled in accredited nursing program with at least 1 clinical semester.
• Effective therapeutic communication with patients.
• Patient care experience, preferably in acute care.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

The Emergency Department Nursing Assistant aids professional and technical nursing personnel primarily by accomplishing a variety of duties and procedures which are directly related to patient care. Primary duties include taking and recording vital signs, blood sugar, and Hemacue readings, assisting patients with hygiene and elimination, performing EKGs and maintaining a clean and safe unit environment. Will assist with stocking and set-up of equipment and supplies, operating hospital equipment as directed, performing routine administrative tasks, and assisting with other related duties as assigned.

• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
• BLS certification upon hire
