Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to patients during scheduled work periods. The NA provides patient-centered nursing care and assistance with daily living activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Job Description

• Assist with basic healthcare needs including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation, and emotional and spiritual support.
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
• Record vital signs and other health information.
• Collect non-invasive biological specimens as needed.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documentation.
• Prepare patient treatment areas and medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste following standards and policies.
• Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology, and equipment.
• Certification and registration with the Minnesota Board of Nursing Assistant Registry is required. Certification is mandatory if designated by law (e.g., Home Care).
