Job description

Job Summary: Geisinger is proud to offer a Nursing Assistant position with a $1500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates. The minimum hiring rate is $15.75, with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. We are also offering up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.

Job Duties
  1. Perform a wide range of direct patient care activities and some clerical duties as needed, ensuring timely and efficient task completion to enhance care quality. Provide care suited to the patient's age range in your assigned clinical area.
  2. Deliver patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice, following the multidisciplinary care plan.
  3. Identify, observe, and document patient needs and report changes to licensed personnel promptly.
  4. Obtain and maintain specimen integrity according to policies and physician orders.
  5. Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and linen changes, ensuring ongoing care continuity.
  6. Provide one-to-one patient safety watch as assigned, following policies.
  7. Process and transport specimens to the laboratory accurately and timely.
  8. Perform point-of-care testing, instrument maintenance, and quality control.
  9. Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining equipment and supplies.
  10. Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students positively.
  11. Handle clerical duties related to admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths, facilitating patient throughput and order processing.
  12. Coordinate transportation for tests and communicate electronic information pertinent to the unit.
  13. Assist in ordering supplies and communicate with food services regarding patient diets.
  14. Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment, scheduling maintenance as needed.
  15. Transport non-controlled medications and blood products as necessary.

Position Details

Full-time, 40 hours/week, 7am-3:30pm, with every other weekend and holiday rotation. May float as needed.
