Sanford Health in the heartland seeks a Patient Care Technician to support night shift care in our Cardiac Unit. This role emphasizes patient-centered nursing care, basic living assistance, and teamwork under RN/LPN supervision.

Responsibilities include recording vital signs, assisting with daily activities, and preparing treatment areas. Strong communication and multitasking are essential in this fast-paced environment. Weekend/holiday rotations apply, with self-scheduling options.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and equipment preferred.
• CNA preferred and maintains required competencies and certifications.
• ND: must be on Nurse Aide Registry after training, or within four months.
• WI: must be on Nurse Aide Registry or be a student nurse with relevant coursework.

Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The Patient Care Technician provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Job Description

• Records vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Administers basic health care and medical treatments; provides assistance with basic daily living activities, including dressing/undressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, etc., meal preparation and dining needs, emotional and spiritual needs, and laundry.
• Cleans patient living areas or treatment rooms.
• Collects non-invasive biological specimens from patient.
• Prepares patient treatment areas for use; prepares and cleans medical equipment; disposes of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
• Performs clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
• Strong communication, customer service, multi-tasking, and organizational skills are needed on a daily basis. When necessary for safe provision of care, employee will provide one on one care to patients.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
• If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.
• If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility or a student nurse, currently enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing, who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.
