  • Department 2 South - General Surgery Unit
  • Schedule/Shift/Hours Part Time - Days - 12 Hour Shifts
Position Summary

The Nursing Assistant Apprentice is a student currently enrolled in an approved CNA program who is employed in a non-certified capacity under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse and a certified nursing assistant. Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.

Responsibilities

• Assists with personal hygiene, takes vital signs and changes bed linens

• May serve and collect food trays, provide for between-meal nourishment, and clean, sterilize, store and prepare other supplies

• Completes duties based on the level of training in CNA program

• Works under immediate supervision

• Demonstrates and adheres to the Kootenai Health Code of Conduct and Ethics

• Performs other related duties as assigned

• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field

• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

• Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred

• Must be enrolled in a state approved CNA Program by Kootenai Health Orientation program

• Certification required within 90 days of date of hire

• BLS required

Working Conditions

• Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position

• Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs

• Typical equipment used in a clinical job

• Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend

• Must be able to assist in patient transfer
