Job summary

Ultimate Medical Academy in Florida is seeking an Instructor to deliver the centralized curriculum and engage online learners at our Clearwater campus. You will work with program leaders to promote student success and help students advance toward certification and career placements, delivering timely feedback and maintaining professional standards.

Requirements include a Florida nursing license, teaching adults experience, strong communication, and proficiency with MS Office and LMS tools.

Qualifications

• Florida nursing license to practice (practical or professional).
• At least one year of clinical experience and either a course in teaching adults or one year teaching adults or supervising nursing assistants.
• Strong communication, organization, time management and high energy.
• Fluent English in verbal and written communication.
• Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the centralized curriculum according to an assigned schedule.
• Facilitate discussion forums and host weekly office hours to engage students.
• Grade activities weekly and provide timely academic feedback.

Ultimate Medical Academy is a non-profit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands‑on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.

Purpose of the Position:

As an Instructor, you will empower students by delivering engaging and effective instruction. You collaborate closely with program leaders and other departments to enhance student success, foster retention, support certification, celebrate graduation milestones, and facilitate successful career placements. Our commitment lies in promoting the overall well‑being and integrity of our educational programs and our students.

• Anticipated starting rate of $810.00/week

What you’ll do:

1. Deliver Centralized Curriculum: Teach the standardized distance education curriculum according to an assigned schedule.
2. Engage Students: Facilitate discussion forums and interactive course posts to promote student interaction and engagement. Host weekly office hours.
3. Monitor Student Progress: Grade course activities and post grades on a weekly basis. Proactively track student performance and provide timely academic feedback.
4. Support Student Success: Create learning support tools tailored to students’ demonstrated needs. Provide academic feedback in a constructive, positive, and timely manner.
5. Maintain Professionalism: Adhere to policies, maintain an up‑to‑date faculty file, and communicate effectively with program leadership and students per established expectations and timelines.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

• A clear, active Florida license to practice either practical nursing or professional nursing. Have at least one year of clinical experience, and one of the following:
  • Have completed a course in teaching adults or
  • Have at least one year of experience in teaching adults or
  • Have at least one year of experience in supervising nursing assistants.
• Skills and abilities – communication and presentation skills, organization, people‑orientation, time management, and high energy.
• Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
• Ability to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
• Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

Preferred Requirements:

• Master’s degree in higher in education, healthcare management, communication, nursing, or general studies.
• Experience applying adult learning principles and practices to blended learning.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
• Other skills and abilities - ability to inspire students to meet career goals by tying course curriculum to potential career outcomes, Learning Management Systems, Student Information Systems, synchronous instructional tools.

Compliance:

• Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and, and internal policies and procedures.
• Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escape any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

• This position is either a full‑time or adjunct onsite position at UMA’s ground campus in Clearwater, Florida.
• May include a flexible remote schedule for online/virtual instructional opportunity.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
