Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a nurse aide on the Med Surg Oncology 3N unit in Farmington Hills. You will provide direct patient care, document care activities, and assist with procedures while coordinating with the nursing team.

The role supports short stays for chemotherapy, transfusions, biopsies, and telemetry, with a patient-first approach and safety as a priority. Eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $1,500 for full-time hires.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• American Heart Association or Red Cross BLS preferred/required.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
• Basic computer knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients according to the plan of care and hospital policy.
• Safely transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher and document services.
• Serve as Observer when required and monitor patient safety.
• Perform clerical duties to support unit operations.
• Document care in the electronic medical record.

This 31-bed unit is dedicated to Oncology and Med-Surg overflow. This unit schedules daily short stays for chemotherapy treatment, blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies, and cardiac catheterization. It also specializes in surgical patients with epidurals and can accommodate telemetry patients. The nurse patient ratio is based on acuity, census, and activity. This unit also covers the 8-bed infusion center, which is also included on the 3rd floor.

Scope of work

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
• Current CNA certification preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
