Job summary

Catholic Health Services is seeking a Nursing Assistant at the St. Charles Campus of Good Samaritan University Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY.

You will provide essential nursing care under an RN, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and hygiene, while documenting data and coordinating with the care team to optimize outcomes. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, Nursing Assistant Certification and BLS, with flexibility to consider prior nursing assistant experience or RN program

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Nursing Assistant Certification & BLS certifications are required.
• In lieu of Nursing Assistant certification, prior/recent nursing assistant experience or completion of one year of a formal RN program may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care under supervision of a licensed RN to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Recognize, document, and report data to appropriate staff.
• Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and ancillary staff to meet patient needs and improve outcomes and satisfaction.
• Advocate for patients and families through safety, education, and emotional support.

Job Details

Our Nursing Assistants will:

• Function under the supervision of the licensed Registered Nurse and provides basic nursing care to ensure the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of our patients.
• Be able to recognize, obtain, document, and report data to appropriate staff.
• Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to, attending physicians, Registered Nurses (RNs), and ancillary staff to meet the needs of patients and optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction
• Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support, and education.

What you’ll bring:

• Passion for Patient Care
• Prior or recent Nursing Assistant experience preferred
• Education: High School Diploma or GED required
• Certification: Nursing Assistant Certification & Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications are required
• In lieu of Nursing Assistant certification, will accept prior/recent nursing assistant experience OR completion of one year of a formal RN program

Salary Range

USD $25.99 - USD $33.37 /Hr.

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
