Job summary

Eisenhower Medical Center is seeking a Telemetry AP3N Nursing Assistant to perform nursing assistant duties under the supervision of the RN. The role requires a CA CNA certification or approved equivalent, solid patient-care skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities include vital signs, observations, hygiene care, patient positioning and documentation, with emphasis on safety and high-quality patient interaction in a Telemetry setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED or higher if hired after June 6, 2022.
• Licensure/Certification: California CNA if hired after April 10, 2016; in lieu, ADN/ASN/BSN or LVN program; BLS.
• Experience: Healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs (temp, pulse, respirations, BP, pain level).
• Document abnormal values and changes to RN per policy.
• Assist with AM and HS hygiene and patient care tasks.
• Position, ambulate, transport and assist with activities of daily living.
• Document intake/output and daily weights; communicate with RN.
• Maintain patient environment and observe safety/isolation procedures.

• Licensure/Certification: Required: California Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) if hired after April 10, 2016; in lieu of CNA, one (1) complete semester of education in an accredited associate's degree in nursing (ADN or ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program or completion of a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program; American Heart Association BLS Experience: Preferred: Healthcare experience

  • 1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  
  
  • 2. Obtains vital signs: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pain level.
  
  
  • 3. Documents and communicates abnormal values and changes to RN per policy; communicates observations of patient condition changes to RN.
  
  
  • 4. Performs AM and HS hygiene per standard.
  
  
  • 5. Positions and ambulates patients as per care plan; assists RN with re-positioning, ambulating, transporting, and other care as directed.
  
  
  • 6. Documents Intake, Output and daily weights; communicates information to RN; completes documentation accurately as per policy.
  
  
  • 7. Assists with set up and/or feedings of patients.
  
  
  • 8. Communicates with RN or appropriate team member prior to leaving unit for any reasons.
  
  
  • 9. Assists with equipment storage, retrieval and procedure cart restocking as directed.
  
  
  • 10. Observes all isolation procedures and regulations.
  
  
  • 11. Provides safe patient environment at all times; stays with patient who may be in danger of falling or hurting themselves; correctly identifies patient by use of armband; ensures call bell is within reach; application of restraints.
  
  
  • 12. Adheres to guidelines for change of shift report from assigned RN.
  
  
  • 13. Performs patient rounds at least every hour.
  
  
  • 14. Maintains general tidiness of patient room.
  
  
  • 15. Completes continuing education classes as assigned.
  
  
  • 16. Performs duties assigned by and under the supervision of the RN.
