Job summary

Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses. You will perform routine duties on assigned patients, follow policies, and contribute to a safe, respectful clinical environment.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a NA course or be an RN/LPN student, and a current BLS certification; MA NA Registry preferred.

• The Nursing Assistant functions in a complimentary or assistive role under the direct supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse. The Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and carries out individual duties on select patients in accordance with policies and procedures of Berkshire Medical Center.
• POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
• Experience:
• Patient care experience preferred.
• Education and Training:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant course and/or current status as a student in a Registered Nurse or LPN preparation program required.
• License, Certification & Registration:
• BLS.
• MA NA REGISTRY - MA Certified Nurse Aide preferred.
• Other Requirements:
• Ability to follow guidelines, protocols and/or policies specific to each unit and the institution.
• Familiarity with Meditech preferred.
• Medical terminology required or willingness to pursue as necessary.
• Ability to consistently interact in a professional manner with patients, families, physicians, other members of the healthcare team. Adheres to BMC Service Excellence Standards in performance of work role.
• Must possess and demonstrate excellent organizational skills necessary to complete complicated and multiple tasks accurately and concurrently.
• Must have the ability to accept and facilitate changes within systems, work methods, policies, procedures, etc.
• Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to maintain congenial and calm composure in stressful environment.
