Job summary

Regions Hospital in the Birth Center is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate patient care and support to the nursing team. Training is provided (2–3 weeks) to learn EHR systems, hospital safety, restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills.

You will assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, collect specimens, respond to calls, and document care in the EHR. Evening shifts (3pm–11:30pm) with weekend/holiday requirements. Prior CNA/acute care exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have completed CNA training or be listed on CNA registry.
• CPR (BLS) certification required; maintained every 2 years.
• Experience with basic computers and EPIC is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

Regions Hospital is hiring a compassionate, collaborative, and committed Nursing Assistant who is driven to provide excellent care to our patients in the Birth Center! When you start your career as a Nursing Assistant you will receive 2-3 weeks of training with our nursing education to learn more about our electronic health system, hospital safety, disengagement skills and restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills. Being a part of the nursing team at Regions means you will use your technical and people skills to positively impact the type of care our patients receive and overall experience.

As a Nursing Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the patient with activities of daily living (ADLs), providing patient care treatments which include but are not limited to, discontinuing IVs, restraint monitoring, and collecting patient vitals, weights, and intake & output all in a safe, timely, and effective matter. This position regularly collects specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose at the direction of the nurse. The Nursing Assistant responds to patient call lights and requests, communicates with patients and visitors, and assist the nurses with procedures as requested. This position also documents and charts in our electronic health system.

Work Schedule/FTE: . 7 FTE (28 hours per week) working evenings (3pm-11:30pm). This position requires you work every other weekend and holiday.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program (may include being listed on the MN Registry)

Or

• Experience in an acute care or long-term care setting as a Nursing Assistant and/or Emergency Room Technician(6 months at a minimum of 0.5 FTE)

Or

• Completion of one clinical rotation in a RN or LPN program within the past 12 months

And

• A current Basic Life Support CPR certification from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Experience or nursing assistant education must have occurred within the last five (5) years.

Certification:

Current CPR certification (American Heart BLS for Healthcare Providers) required. (Demonstrates at the time of employment and every 2 years thereafter).

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school degree of equivalent
• Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting
• Nursing assistant certification
• Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EPIC)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
