Job summary

Evans Memorial Hospital Inc. is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct and indirect patient care across adolescent to geriatric units. The role supports daily living activities, vitals monitoring, and essential hygiene tasks.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety, privacy, and comfort for all patients. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, CNA certification preferred, and current BCLS.

Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
  • Current BCLS certification required.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Willingness to work varying shifts.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living.
  • Monitor and document vital signs as ordered.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment and infection control practices.
  • Participate in admission and discharge processes and performance improvement activities.

Job description

Under the supervision of Charge Nurse, Department Director, and Chief Nursing Officer, provides direct and indirect patient care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to acutely ill patients, and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff, and medical staff. Participates in performance improvement activities.Minimal Qualifications:Education:High school diploma or equivalentCertified Nursing Assistant Certification preferredCurrent BCLS certificationExperience: Preferred, but not required. May obtain on the job.Language Skills: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.Clinical Skills: Basic patient care skills including; but not limited to weights, baths, and vital signs.Physical/Mental Demands:Ability to think and work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions; to move, sit, stand, walk, and bend intermittently throughout the work day. Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.Must possess sigh/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable the applicant to adequately fulfill the requirements of this position.Use of mechanical and technical equipment required for the responsibilities assigned.External and internal applicants who are/become disabled, must be able to perform the essential position responsibilities with unaided or with assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.Occupational Exposure to Blood borne Pathogens:Category I - Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.I Essential Position ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates support for the hospital mission/vision and commitment to our patients.Continually seeks ways to improve patient care as well as individual and department efficiency and effectiveness.Presents an accommodating and receptive manner to our patients and his/her visitors demonstrating a willingness to do whatever is necessary to meet their needs.Presents a professional positive image in appearance and communications.Is dependable in meeting assigned work schedule and completing responsibilities of role.Adherers to organizational policies and procedures.Seeks job related education, attends required training and 80% of appropriate programs.Demonstrates knowledge and initiation in the admission and discharge planning processes.Adheres to legal implications of patient care.Maintains patients' confidentiality.Administers care in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.Willingly accepts shifts on Medical, Specialty, and advanced care Units to meet the scheduling needs of the organization.Follows infection control practices including hand washing techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions.Performs independently, within department's policies and procedures, referring universal problems to RN Charge Nurse or Department Director.Accountable for following scheduled policies and adheres to posted work schedule.Arrives to work on time, dressed appropriately.Wears Identification Badge while on duty.Answers call lights in a courteous and timely manner.Keeps Charge Nurse/Department Director informed.
