Job summary

The State of Delaware's Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) seeks a Senior Nursing Administrator to lead development and oversight of clinical policies and programs, ensure compliance with applicable rules, and represent the division on statewide task forces.

In this senior role, you will provide nursing care, design care plans, educate patients and communities, collaborate with the treatment team, and contribute to quality assurance activities.

Qualifications

  • Three years experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing and at least two years experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Masters degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi-state compact license.
  • Knowledge of budget development including financial data analysis and long- and short-range planning.
  • Knowledge of developing policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision through coursework, training, or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
  • Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans.
  • Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and/or nursing home facilities in the management of their health care needs.
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team.
  • Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms.
  • Participates in and makes recommendations regarding quality assurance activities.

Summary Statement

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this senior level nurse role will support the agency with development and oversight of clinical policies and programs; assure compliance with clinically related federal, state or other rules or regulations; and will represent the division on statewide task forces and committees in support of the DMMA mission.

Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Nursing Administrator

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  • At least three years experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing and at least two years experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Masters degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi-state compact license.
  • Knowledge of budget development which includes analyzing financial data and making long and short range plans and projections.
  • Knowledge of developing policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.

Conditions of Hire

All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
