Job summary

Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (NWMRMC) is seeking a Nursing Administrative Supervisor to provide hospital-wide nursing leadership and oversee patient care operations during assigned shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

This RN leader will supervise nursing operations, assist with staffing, monitor patient flow, and respond to clinical and operational concerns to ensure safe, high-quality care across the organization.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or qualifying Compact RN license in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
• Minimum of three years of acute care nursing experience preferred; prior charge nurse/leadership experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and clinical oversight of hospital nursing operations during assigned shifts.
• Serve as the primary nursing leadership resource for clinical staff when directors or senior leaders are not on site.
• Coordinate staffing assignments and assist departments in maintaining appropriate staffing.
• Monitor hospital-wide patient flow, bed availability, admissions, transfers, and discharges for timely placement.
• Provide clinical guidance and leadership to nursing staff on condition changes, policies, and standards of care.
• Respond to rapid response events, codes, emergencies, staffing concerns, and other critical situations.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, ED personnel, and other departments to address barriers to patient care.
• Assist with orientation, mentoring, coaching, and development of nursing staff.

TheNursing Administrative Supervisor (RN) serves as the administrative and clinical nursing leader during assigned shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. This position provides oversight of nursing operations, assists with staffing and patient flow, responds to clinical and operational concerns, supports emergency situations, and serves as a key resource for nursing staff and other hospital departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and clinical oversight of hospital nursing operations during assigned shifts.


• Serve as the primary nursing leadership resource for clinical staff when department directors or senior nursing leaders are not on site.


• Coordinate staffing assignments and assist departments in maintaining appropriate staffing based on patient census, acuity, and operational needs.


• Monitor hospital-wide patient flow, bed availability, admissions, transfers, and discharges to promote timely and efficient patient placement.


• Provide clinical guidance and leadership to nursing staff regarding changes in patient condition, emergency situations, policies, procedures, and standards of care.


• Respond to rapid response events, codes, emergencies, staffing concerns, patient or family concerns, and other significant clinical or operational situations.


• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, Emergency Department personnel, ancillary departments, and leadership to address barriers to patient care.


• Assist with conflict resolution and provide immediate guidance regarding employee, patient, visitor, or operational concerns occurring during the assigned shift.


• Promote compliance with nursing standards, hospital policies, infection prevention practices, patient safety requirements, and regulatory standards.


• Assist with evaluating staffing needs and coordinating available resources to ensure safe patient care throughout the hospital.


• Support nursing staff with clinical decision-making, prioritization, escalation of care, and appropriate utilization of the chain of command.


• Communicate significant incidents, patient safety concerns, staffing issues, and operational matters to appropriate department and executive leadership.


• Ensure appropriate documentation and completion of administrative or incident reports as required.


• Promote a professional, respectful, patient-centered environment consistent with NWMRMC's standards and values.


• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, emergency preparedness, and performance improvement initiatives.


• Assist with orientation, mentoring, coaching, and development of nursing staff as appropriate.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure:

Certifications:

Experience:
