Job summary

South College is seeking a Nursing Academic Specialist to provide mentoring, tutoring, and support to nursing students. Successful candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and an RN License, along with strong communication and professional skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Unencumbered RN License is required.
  • One-year experience in an academic setting is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and tutor BS, ASN, and LPN nursing students.
  • Develop and provide student workshops and study sessions.
  • Support NCLEX preparation through individual and group support.

The Nursing Academic Specialist will mentor and tutor BS, ASN,and LPN nursing students with the mastery of didactic content throughout their educational journey. The academic specialist will collaborate with the nursing faculty to identify strategies for student retention. The academic specialist will develop and host concept based workshops to help students develop critical thinking skills and clinical judgement.

Responsibilities:

Supports instruction, remediation, and evaluation in didactic concepts

Demonstrates accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exam

Demonstrates professional behavior and accountability in all interactions

Develops and provides student workshops and study sessions

Provides 1:1 student support with nursing concepts

Provides group and individual support for NCLEX prep

Help identify strategies for increase retention

Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing,

Unencumbered RN License

BLS CPR Certification

One-year experience in an academic setting, strongly preferred

Excellent communication skills via telephone, email, virtually, and in person

Mastery of ATI
