Position Overview

The Nursing Academic Specialist mentors and tutors BSN, ASN, and LPN nursing students in didactic content throughout their educational journey. Reporting to the Nursing Academic Manager, this role collaborates with nursing faculty to develop strategies for student retention. The specialist will also develop and host concept-based workshops to enhance critical thinking and clinical judgment skills.

This is an on-site role based at South College, Indianapolis Campus, Monday through Friday, with weekend and evening support as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Support instruction, remediation, and evaluation of didactic concepts
  • Maintain accurate knowledge of concepts tested by NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN
  • Demonstrate professional behavior and accountability
  • Develop and facilitate student workshops and study sessions
  • Provide one-on-one student support for nursing concepts
  • Assist with group and individual NCLEX preparation
  • Mentor students
  • Identify strategies to increase retention
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (minimum)
  • Unencumbered RN license
  • BLS CPR certification
Experience
  • One year of academic setting experience (preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills (telephone, email, virtual, in person)
  • Proficiency with ATI
