Job summary

Montana State University-Northern (MSUN) invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing, tenure track. The position focuses on high-quality instruction in an ACEN-accredited ASN program and online RN-BSN completion, with face-to-face lectures, clinicals, and lab/simulation, plus distance learning for RN-BSN.

The role includes course development, clinical affiliate relationships, student advising, and involvement in accreditation and program outcomes.

Qualifications

• Holds a MSN from an accredited program; OR BSN and enrolled in an MSN with ≤5 years to completion.
• Current Montana RN license or eligibility for Montana licensure.
• Significant clinical nursing experience and strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Job description

Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing, tenure track

This is a full-time, tenure track position in Nursing at MSU -Northern. It requires high quality instruction in an ACEN accredited ASN program and in an online Bachelor of Science completion program (RN- BSN ). The ASN courses include lecture, clinical instruction, and lab/simulation instruction completed in a face-to-face format. The online RN- BSN completion program requires nursing instruction through distance learning. Applicants with specialties across all areas of nursing are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate high-quality courses in an Associate of Science ( ASN ) program and an Online RN- BSN Completion program
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clinical affiliates
• Provide lecture and lab/clinical instruction in area of specialty
• Provide instruction in Simulation Lab
• Advise nursing and pre-nursing students
• Participate in the ongoing development and evaluation of program outcomes and program effectiveness for accrediting bodies
• Serve on college and university-level committees and engage in campus activities
• Contribute to the development and evaluation of student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies of the program
• Demonstrate scholarly activity by continued professional development and active participation in professional organizations

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

• Holds a Master’s degree in Nursing ( MSN ) from a nationally accredited program; OR
• Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing ( BSN ) and currently enrolled in an MSN program with a completion timeline of no more than 5 years.
• Maintains a current, unencumbered Montana Registered Nursing license or Compact state licensure and/or is eligible for RN licensure in the State of Montana
• Possesses significant nursing experience in a clinical setting as a registered nurse.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills, along with a high level of initiative, competency in critical thinking, and sound clinical judgement.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

• Teaching experience in an ASN or BSN program
• Experience in distance education including web-based course development and implementation
• Experience with Simulation Lab instruction
• Demonstrated potential to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
• Demonstrated a commitment to supporting the mission of the college and university
• Has successfully completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP ) program
