Overview

Title: Nurses, Registered

Location: NEW YORK, NY (Onsite)

Duration: Up to two years

Healthcare Facility Name: Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center

Shift Days/Times: Day Shift 7:00 AM–7:30 PM; Evening Shift 7:00 PM–7:30 AM

Responsibilities

As a registered professional nurse, diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case-finding, health teaching, health counseling and provide care, supportive to or restorative of life and wellbeing, and execute medical regimes prescribed by a physician or dentist.

  • Assessment: Completes an accurate assessment of individual patient\'s need for treatment. Utilizes the nursing process to identify patient problems and appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Communicates assessment findings to nursing staff and other health care professionals via the medical record, the Nursing Care Plan, and the Treatment Plan and verbally through shift to shift hand-off communication.
  • Assesses the need for patient and family instruction/teaching regarding the patient\'s medical/psychiatric diagnosis and identified medication/treatment regime.
  • Formulates Nursing Diagnosis for each patient based on assessment findings.
  • Utilizes the Patient Acuity System to determine patient needs to maintain standards of care.
  • Assesses personal learning needs related to delivery of patient care.
  • Assess the learning capabilities of individual patients as it relates to delivery of patient care.
  • Planning: Formulates an individual written care plan for each patient based upon comprehensive assessment findings, utilizing patient and family input.
  • As a member of the treatment team, the RN is involved in the treatment planning process.
  • Contributes in the development of patient outcomes that are specific and measurable within a realistic time frame.
  • Updates the plan of care based on ongoing assessment.
  • Develops a patient education and discharge plan based upon assessment of patient/family needs and learning capabilities.
  • Establishes priorities in patient care to utilize time in an efficient manner.
  • Collaborates with other health care professionals regarding the patient\'s plan of care.
