Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle is seeking a Nursery Practitioner to support nurseries and Early Years settings across Newcastle with caring and enthusiastic staff. You will help children develop through purposeful activities, daily routines, and responsive care within a stimulating learning environment.

The role requires knowledge of safeguarding, a positive approach to learning through play, and the ability to collaborate with families and school teams to ensure consistent care and development.

Qualifications

• Relevant Early Years or childcare experience in a school or similar setting.
• Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Ability to respond appropriately to individual developmental and emotional needs.
• Confidence engaging young children through play and structured activities.
• Patient, attentive, and reliable approach to Early Years practice.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

• Organise age-appropriate play, creative, and sensory activities
• Encourage children’s early communication, language, and social development
• Observe individual progress and contribute to developmental records
• Create opportunities for children to explore and become more independent
• Maintain a welcoming environment that supports children’s wellbeing and safety
• Liaise with colleagues and families to provide consistent care and learning support
