Garden View Nursery is seeking an Install Crew Team Member to support delivery and professional installation of trees, shrubs, and plants. Garden View Nursery Install Crew Team Member

Description

Position Summary

The Install Crew Team Member supports the delivery and professional installation of trees, shrubs, and other plant material purchased from Garden View Nursery. This is a hands-on, physically demanding position that involves loading and unloading plants, preparing orders, planting at customer homes and businesses, and assisting with general nursery operations as needed.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, and able to work effectively as part of a fast-paced team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Delivery & Installation
  • Load and unload trees, shrubs, plants, soil amendments, and other materials.
  • Stage, organize, and prepare customer orders for delivery and installation.
  • Plant and install trees, shrubs, hedges, and other plant material at customer homes and businesses.
  • Dig and prepare planting holes and surrounding soil for proper installation.
  • Move large trees, shrubs, and containerized plants manually or with appropriate equipment.
  • Haul, mix, and apply soil amendments as needed.
  • Clean up installation areas and remove plant material, soil, branches, and other debris.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site while working at customer properties.
Tools & Equipment
  • Safely use hand and power tools, including shovels, rakes, picks, pruning tools, and jackhammers.
  • Assist with or operate equipment such as skid steers and other nursery or installation equipment when properly trained and authorized.
  • Help maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe, clean, and professional condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Nursery Support

When not performing deliveries or installations, assist with nursery operations as needed, including:

  • Stocking and organizing plant material.
  • Moving and staging containerized trees, shrubs, and plants.
  • Staking, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and maintaining plants.
  • Weeding, raking, thinning, transplanting, and general plant care.
  • Loading and unloading semi-trailers, flatbed trucks, delivery vehicles, and customer vehicles.
  • Cleaning and organizing nursery work areas.
  • Removing and pruning trees, clearing debris, and maintaining nursery grounds.
  • Assisting with irrigation and watering.
  • Learning proper care and maintenance practices for container-grown plants.
  • Performing general nursery upkeep in a clean and professional manner, particularly in customer-facing areas.
Teamwork & Safety
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and crew leaders.
  • Work cooperatively and professionally with other team members.
  • Follow all Garden View Nursery safety policies, procedures, and work practices.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Help train new team members when directed.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • General labor, landscaping, nursery, construction, or similar outdoor work experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and equipment is preferred.
  • Nursery, landscaping, or retail nursery experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established safety procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Dependable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in direct sunlight, heat, dust, and changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and move heavy objects weighing 40 pounds or more.
Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Equivalent knowledge gained through work experience, specialized training, or other relevant experience may be considered.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding position. Team members must be able to:

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, pull, and move items weighing up to 40 pounds or more.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, reach, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb.
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks, including digging, lifting, pulling, carrying, and moving plant material.
  • Work safely on uneven surfaces and around vehicles and equipment.
  • Work outdoors with exposure to direct sunlight, heat, cold, dust, noise, and inclement weather.
  • Safely perform physical work in both nursery and customer job-site environments.
Schedule & Employment Requirements
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Work may be scheduled on any of the seven days of the week based on business and installation needs.
  • Candidates must be able to meet Garden View Nursery's applicable pre-employment requirements.
