Job summary

Arnot Health’s Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY seeks a Unit Manager SNF-St. Joseph to provide clinical leadership and operations support for safe, high-quality, patient-centered nursing care.

You will oversee daily nursing activities, staffing, and regulatory compliance, collaborating with the Unit Director to achieve positive patient outcomes. The role requires NY RN licensure, BLS and ACLS within stated timelines, with BSN/MSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in New York State.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days for telemetry and critical care areas.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, problem-solving, delegation, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise nursing activities, support staff development, promote patient safety, and maintain compliance with clinical documentation and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise daily nursing activities, assign patient care responsibilities based on patient acuity and staff competency, and provide direct patient care as needed to support safe staffing and positive patient outcomes.
• Serve as a clinical resource and professional role model, support staff education and competency development, assist with performance evaluations, and promote effective communication and collaboration across the healthcare team.
• Monitor nursing documentation and care delivery, participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives, and support compliance with Arnot Health policies, NYS Department of Health requirements, DNV standards, and evidence-based practices.
• Assist the Unit Director with staff scheduling, patient procedure coordination, incident and complaint follow-up, supply and equipment management, budget development, and accurate charge capture.
• Participate in unit and organizational committees, support policy development and implementation, identify opportunities to improve patient care and operational efficiency, and maintain clinical knowledge through continuing education and professional development.
