Job summary

The California Nurses Association (CNA)/National Nurses Organizing Committee (NNOC)/National Nurses United (NNU) seeks a Labor Representative to build worker power, mobilize members, and advance nurses’ rights and patient care.

You will organize workplace committees, plan campaigns, and support contract negotiations while using data to drive action. The role emphasizes equity, racial and ethnic health outcomes, and flexible scheduling with evening/weekend commitments in Los Angeles.

Qualifications

• Experience organizing workers and campaigns.
• Ability to develop leadership among rank-and-file members.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
• Willingness to work long hours including nights/weekends.
• Commitment to social change and to the organization's program.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and grow the nurse network.
• Identify and develop leaders.
• Develop campaign plans.
• Maintain relationships with nurse leaders.
• Organize actions including strikes and other collective actions.
• Train nurses on grievances handling.
• Assist in contract negotiations and processing grievances.
• Travel to worksites and engage members.
• Maintain flexible schedule based on organizing needs.
