Job description

Job Title: Nurse Technician Observer

The Nurse Technician Observer supports the Registered Nurse by observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks. The primary focus is creating a safe environment for patients at risk of suicide or self-harm.

Talent Pool: Nursing Support

Responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting patients with daily living tasks such as meals, personal care, and mobility to aid recovery and care plans.
  2. Assessing patient quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination to allocate resources and anticipate needs.
  3. Admitting, transferring, and discharging patients to appropriate locations per the care plan.
  4. Assisting with elimination needs, including ostomy care, enemas, and condom catheters for patient comfort.
  5. Maintaining unit inventories of supplies and equipment to ensure a clean and safe environment, adhering to safety standards.
  6. Checking that fall-risk patients have the appropriate armbands, socks, and signage to ensure safety.
  7. Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: At least 1 year of related experience
Licensure, Certification, or Registration
  • CPR certification (BLS) from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
  • Certification required by the North Carolina DHHR.
  • Nurse Aide Certification.
