Job Summary: Under supervision and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, assist in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receive patient care assignments from the registered nurse (RN) in charge and initiate delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence.
  • Collect and document data for admission assessments, reassessments, and scheduling.
  • Inform licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition or needs.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment efficiently.
  • Assist with clerical duties such as answering phones, relaying messages, and organizing medical records.
  • In inpatient settings, assist with activities such as vital signs, hygiene, mobility, and specimen collection.
  • Prepare patients for discharge and orient new patients to the unit.
  • In outpatient settings, manage referrals and assist with patient care for individuals aged three and above.
  • Operate in a safe, alert manner and perform point of care testing as per policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
  • Completion of a state-approved unlicensed assist personnel (UAP) program or meet UAP guidelines; or enrolled in UAP through SSM Health upon hire.

Experience
  • No experience required.

Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech for communication.
  • Frequent lifting of 0-25 lbs; occasional lifting of 25-50 lbs.
  • Repetitive movements and visual tasks.
  • Occasional patient lifting and movement.

Required Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association (AHA).
