Job Summary:

Assists in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
  1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  2. Receives patient care assignment from the registered nurse (RN) in charge. Initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in performing nursing activities for specific patient age group served.
  3. Collects and documents data for admission assessment and reassessment at specific times. Provides data to the licensed nurse for analysis and validation of patient responses to care or treatment, especially when significant changes occur.
  4. Communicates effectively with team members through charting and verbal updates.
  5. Informs licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition, needs, complaints, or educational requirements.
  6. Answers patient calls, takes vital signs, monitors behavior and physical condition, and assists with daily activities such as bathing, ambulating, feeding, and hygiene care. Performs dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, and collects biological specimens.
  7. Prepares patients for discharge and accompanies them as needed.
  8. Maintains supplies and equipment, and assists with clerical duties related to patient records and communication.
  9. Orients new patients and their families to the nursing unit.
  10. Operates equipment safely and recognizes mechanical issues for prompt correction.
  11. Performs point-of-care testing as per policies.
  12. Works in a safe and alert manner at all times.
  13. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education:
  • Educational equivalency for licensing
Experience:
  • No experience required
Physical Requirements:
  • Constant standing and walking
  • Frequent use of hearing, speech, vision, and manual dexterity
  • Occasional lifting, bending, kneeling, and patient handling
  • Occasional driving
Required Licenses and Certifications:

Location-specific certifications such as BLS and CNA are required, with details provided for Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.

Work Details:

Day shift, 36 hours weekly, in the 1011000011 5 East - Med / Surg department.
