Job summary

Corewell Health's Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids seeks a Nurse Technician for the Progressive Care Unit Adaptable ICU Cardiac 6S. You will support patient care under RN or Provider supervision, performing basic tasks and communicating observations to the team.

Orientation includes training and several weeks of daytime shifts. Emphasis on safety, documentation, and delivering quality patient care in a high-acuity setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days.
• Patient care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
• Taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.

About the Unit 6 South

About the Unit 6 South is a 22-bed acuity adaptable unit at Butterworth Hospital that is capable of managing both non ICU and ICU status patients admitted with advanced cardiopulmonary care needs. 6 South specializes in patients with advanced heart failure, pre or post heart or lung transplant, Left Ventricular Assist devices, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, and respiratory failure necessitating Bipap, Hi-Flo Nasal Cannula.

Scope of Work

Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.

• Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
• Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
• Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.

Orientation

Orientation for the first week of employment as Nurse Tech requires classroom training Monday-Wednesday, followed by up to 11 weeks of continued daytime orientation shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• Patient Care experience is preferred
