Job Summary:

Performs selected nursing functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse. A non-licensed healthcare provider employed by Erlanger responsible for direct and/or indirect patient care.

Education:

• Required: Nursing student (RN or LPN) within one year of graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Preferred: N/A

Experience:

• Required: Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills. Medical background required.
• Preferred: N/A

Position Requirements:

• Required: BLS certification prior to unit assignment and ongoing renewal.
• Completion of 8 hours of education specific to Total Joint Replacement (hip, knee, ankle). 4 hours to be completed upon hire via Erlanger Online Education (EOL) or other training assigned by leadership.

Department Summary:

The employee must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care for medical and surgical patients on EEW3. They should understand growth and development principles, assess patient data, and interpret information to meet patient-specific needs, following unit policies and procedures.

The employee must be capable of providing direct patient care under RN supervision, including procedures, activities of daily living, and equipment operation. The role may include acting as a Patient Care Technician as needed.
