Job summary

UPMC seeks a Professional Staff Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care within the care delivery team. This role emphasizes independent judgment, collaboration with physicians and other providers, and commitment to patient outcomes across the continuum of care.

The nurse will guide patients and families through episodes of care, participate in staff development and ensure safe, compassionate care that aligns with organizational goals and community health needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
• BSN preferred.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with executives, managers, physicians, staff, patients and families.
• Demonstrates leadership, collaboration and supervision within the care team.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles and applies teaching to patients, families, students and new staff.
• Supports development of students and new staff; may serve as a preceptor.
• Engages in quality improvement and fosters safe, outcome-focused care.
• Applies nursing process within Relationship-Based Care to create a healing environment and partner with patients.
• Communicates effectively to translate patient condition and advocate changes in care.
