Job summary

Dignity Health – Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, CA seeks a Nurse Shift Manager to supervise a department of frontline nurses delivering compassionate patient care. You will lead by example, communicate effectively in 1:1 and group settings, and handle tough conversations to maintain clinical excellence and patient safety across shifts.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (required).
• Two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
• Registered Nurse: CA license (CA).
• BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• ACLS from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, considering patient condition and staff skill level.
• Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care; institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
• Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.
• Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

To be successful in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.
