UCI Health is seeking a Nurse Manager for the Cardiac Cath Lab to oversee patient care delivery, ensure nursing practice standards, and lead a skilled clinical team. Qualifications

  • Familiar with Joint Commission and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills relevant to nursing leadership.
  • Knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and pressure wave forms.
  • Experience with diagnostic/interventional procedures including pediatric cath lab, EP studies, AICD and pacemaker insertion.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; able to teach and provide in-service training.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and infection control; age-appropriate care.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff with prior lead experience.
  • Experience with conscious sedation, circulating, monitoring, recovery and scrubbing for cath lab patients.
  • Active California RN license; BSN required; MSN preferred.
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Your Role on the Team
Position Summary:

Incumbent is responsible for management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Supervises and directs staff and functions in the unit while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include managing human resources, directing patient care activities, monitoring unit budgets, and participating on departmental and medical center wide performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others.

Required Qualifications:
  • Understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Knowledge and practice of hemodynamic monitoring and pressures wave forms
  • Experience with diagnostic/interventional procedures, pediatric heart catherization, EP studies, AICD and pacemaker insertion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated teaching/education/in-service skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff through prior lead or supervisory experience
  • Demonstrate experience with conscious sedation, circulating, monitoring, recovering and scrubbing for diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Cath Lab patients
  • Current California RN license
  • BSN or MSN in Nursing
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • A minimum of three years of nursing experience in a cardiac cath lab or acute critical care setting
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Supp
