Job summary

Pyramid Healthcare’s inpatient facility in Duncansville, PA is seeking a Registered Nurse (PRN) to provide direct nursing care and support clinical operations. You will administer medications, educate clients, monitor withdrawal using COWS/CIWA, and collaborate with medical staff to ensure safe, recovery-focused care.

CPR/BLS, AED and First Aid certifications required.
Behavioral health, substance use treatment, or inpatient setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform initial nursing assessments for new admissions.
Administer medications and educate clients on use and treatment.
Monitor withdrawal protocols using COWS and CIWA scales.
Collaborate with medical providers during assessments and visits.
Guide LPNs in delivering client care and completing tasks.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation per policy and standards.
Monitor client status and respond to clinical changes or concerns.
Ensure compliance with medication standards, HIPAA and licensing.
Communicate with interdisciplinary team to support continuity of care.
Complete required trainings and certifications; perform other duties as assigned.

At Pyramid Healthcare’s inpatient facility in Duncansville, PA, we specialize in treating individuals with Substance Use Disorders. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (PRN) who is passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate care and contributing to the success of our growing program.

This role provides direct nursing care, supports medical and clinical operations, and ensures safe medication practices while promoting a therapeutic and recovery-focused environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Complete initial nursing assessments for new admissions
Administer medications and provide client education on medication use and treatment

Collaborate with and support medical providers during assessments and medication management visits
Provide guidance and direction to LPNs in delivering client care and completing assigned responsibilities
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with policy and regulatory standards
Monitor client status and respond appropriately to clinical changes or concerns
Ensure compliance with medication administration standards, HIPAA, and licensing regulations
Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support continuity of care
Complete all required trainings and certifications
Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provide guidance, direction, and support to LPNs and other nursing staff as applicable, ensuring safe, compliant, and effective care delivery.

Required Qualifications

Licensure, Education, & Experience

Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (State of Pennsylvania required for this role)
Current CPR/BLS certification, AED, and First Aid
Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or inpatient setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of nursing care standards and medication administration practices
Familiarity with withdrawal management protocols (COWS and CIWA)
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

Physical Demands

This position involves minimal physical demands compared to traditional nursing roles. Occasional standing, walking, and light lifting may be required. The role does not involve heavy lifting or intensive physical care tasks.

Work Environment

This position operates in an inpatient behavioral healthcare setting serving individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Staff may encounter exposure to medications, behavioral health situations, and healthcare environments. PRN staff may be required to work varied shifts based on program needs.
