UF Health seeks a Flex RN to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in diverse clinical settings, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and patient safety. The role requires flexibility to float to different units, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills, suitable for nurses with acute and critical care experience. Successful candidates will hold a Florida nursing license, possess relevant certifications, and demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care.
The Flex RN provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The Flex RN must comply with all license, certification, and training requirements for the units served. The Flex RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The Flex RN maintains overall accountability for assigned patients, with some activities delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and Sitters. Assignments are made appropriately to the age and developmental level of patients. The Flex RN may be required to float to ICU or other areas with ICU-level patients, such as PACU, ED-ICU pod, Interventional Radiology, etc., and may serve in an emergency response role as part of the Rapid Response Team.
Required Education: Associate's degree. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must obtain a BSN within three years of hire or transfer. Employees hired or transferred between August 1, 2013, and June 13, 2017, must adhere to their offer letter conditions and signed job description. Employees hired before August 1, 2013, are grandfathered.
Preferred Education: BSN
Necessary Skills: Demonstrates teamwork and professional communication with the healthcare team. Ability to learn and apply computer technologies affecting patient care.
Required Licensure/Certifications: Licensed to practice nursing in Florida. BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association. PALS required within six months of hire or transfer, effective July 1, 2018, with existing employees needing to have PALS by December 31, 2018. Professional certification is preferred. Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days and annually thereafter is required for Psych Unit.
Required Experience: 1-2 years of acute care experience and 3-5 years of critical care experience.
Preferred Experience: 3-5 years in Critical Care and Emergency Department.
Age of Patients Served: All age groups.
