Nurse Residency Program Summer 2025

Job Summary:

This posting is for the Summer 2025 Start Dates (either July 21 or July 28, 2025-unit specific starts) of the VUMC Nurse Residency Program. The program targets the new graduate nurse or the RN with less than six (6) months RN work experience upon application. The new graduate nurse will have successfully taken NCLEX prior to the program start date. This position requires graduation from an accredited nursing program. Full-time hours of 36-40 hours per week is required during the first year of the Nurse Residency Program. BLS certification required prior to start. Background checks are performed and approved prior to employment.

Vanderbilt employees: September 3-9, 2024.

All applicants: Begins September 10 to October 15, 2024. Popular units fill quickly. Apply early if you are most interested in Pediatrics, ICU or Women’s Health.

For additional unit needs October 15, 2024 to June 21, 2025.

The Nurse Residency Program runs one year with a 2nd year commitment. We are accepting both BSN and ASN degrees.

Process:

Step 1: Enter your resume, education, work history, unit preferences, and answer the pre-screen questions. After this is received and reviewed you will receive an email about Part 2 which is to record the video.

Step 2: Your application and recorded video interview will then be reviewed and forwarded to our department managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
