Job Details

Senior Nursing Students, Nurse Graduates, and new RNs are encouraged to apply for our Nurse Residency Program: Progressive Care Track. This is a rolling application available for all start dates.

The ChristianaCare Nurse Residency Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.

Research shows that new to practice nurses completing a structured and accredited residency program experience:

  • Increased competency
  • Reduced errors
  • Lower self-reported stress
  • Higher job satisfaction

We are committed to supporting all registered nurses with less than one year of experience through this specialty track.

The curriculum includes:

  • Lecture and simulation education
  • Peer support
  • Up to 16 weeks of preceptor-led clinical experiences tailored to your transition needs, fostering critical thinking, evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, effective communication, quality, safety, and professional growth.

Participants will complete preceptor-led training on intermediate or transitional step-down units at our Newark or Wilmington campuses, followed by ongoing residency meetings at months 6, 8, 10, and 12 to support professional development.

Upon completing the program, nurses will have a strong foundation for practice in fast-paced, complex environments outside of the ICU.

Nurse residents must pass the State Boards and obtain RN licensure in Delaware (or a compact state) before starting. A two-year work commitment at ChristianaCare is required; failure to fulfill this will result in a $10,000 charge.
