Job summary

Medix™ is seeking a Locum Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to deliver mobile wound care across San Jose, San Francisco & Oakland, CA. This autonomous per-diem role lets you set your own schedule and visit patients at homes, assisted-living, and skilled facilities.

You will perform comprehensive wound assessments, debridement, advanced wound modalities, orders and interpretations, and coordination with PCPs and home health teams. Sharp clinical skills and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• Active California NP license and national board certification.
• DEA registration or ability to obtain.
• 1–2 years wound-care experience.
• Proven proficiency in wound debridement and NPWT.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive clinical assessments and treat acute and chronic wounds.
• Perform wound debridement (sharp, enzymatic, mechanical, autolytic).
• Apply and manage advanced wound modalities (NPWT, compression, skin substitutes).
• Order and interpret laboratory tests, cultures, vascular studies, and imaging.

• Coordinate treatment plans with PCPs, home health agencies, and facility teams.

Title: Locum Wound Care Nurse Practitioner

Location options: San Jose, San Francisco & Oakland, CA

Summary: Searching for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to deliver specialized mobile wound care across three flexible California location options. This autonomous locum position offers exceptional scheduling flexibility and a pay-per-visit compensation model, allowing you to manage your own availability while delivering advanced care directly to patients in their homes, assisted-living, and skilled nursing facilities.

Day to Day:

• Perform comprehensive clinical assessments and treat acute and chronic wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure injuries, vascular ulcers, surgical wounds, and burns.
• Perform wound debridement (sharp, enzymatic, mechanical, autolytic) within scope of practice.
• Apply and manage advanced wound modalities, including NPWT, compression systems, skin substitutes, biologics, and specialty dressings.
• Order and interpret relevant laboratory tests, cultures, vascular studies, and diagnostic imaging.
• Prescribe necessary medications, wound-care supplies, dressings, and durable medical equipment (DME).
• Coordinate comprehensive treatment plans with PCPs, specialists, home health agencies, and facility nursing teams.

Shift:

• Schedule: Flexible per-diem workflow; set your own availability.
• Setting: Mobile coverage across patient homes, assisted-living facilities, board-and-care homes, and skilled nursing facilities.
• Compensation: Pay-per-visit model (reimbursed per completed patient visit and procedure).
• On-Call: No call or weekend requirements currently specified.

Qualifications:

• Licensing: Active California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license and national board certification.
• Certifications: Active DEA registration (or ability to obtain); valid California driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of dedicated wound-care experience or completion of advanced wound-care training.
• Clinical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in wound debridement, NPWT, compression therapy, and Medicare-compliant documentation.
• Preferred: Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWCN, CWON, or equivalent) and prior mobile, home health, or skilled nursing experience.
