Atlantic Health in Morristown, NJ seeks an experienced advanced practice nurse to collaborate with physicians in delivering comprehensive primary and specialty care. You will evaluate patients, perform exams, order tests, and manage perioperative care for surgical patients.

You will participate in inpatient rounds, coordinate discharges, and educate patients on treatment plans, prevention, and wellness. A valid NP license and state registration are required.

Responsibilities

  • Treat and provide health care under physician supervision; educate patients on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Evaluate patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and gather medical data.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, ECG, ultrasounds) and manage results.
  • Perform treatments (injections, immunizations, wound care) and infection management.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans; finalize postoperative orders; ensure continuity of care.
  • Instruct and counsel patients on adherence to therapy, growth and development, family planning, emotional well-being, and health maintenance.
  • Conduct chart reviews to verify accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in hospital rounds; respond to inpatient consults; coordinate transfers and discharges; manage meds and IV fluids.
  • Perform pre-operative evaluations to confirm readiness for surgery and reconcile meds.
  • Support outpatient hours, triage calls, coordinate surgical cases, complete forms and documentation; review insurance authorizations.
  • Triage calls, review results, and escalate clinical concerns as needed.
  • Support vascular surgery operations with additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for working alongside physicians and facilitating advanced primary and specialty nursing services. Provides general and preventative care for children and adults, perform check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests, and prescribe medication.

The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday with varying hours from 7am - 6pm with a Saturday call requirement once a month to round at varying hospital locations.

Principal Accountabilities:
  1. 1. Responsible for treating and providing health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a physician. Educates patients on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders or diseases. Assists patients in the management of chronic diseases and illnesses and promotes health and wellness.
  2. 2. Evaluates patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and gathers patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  3. 3. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, ultrasounds, radiology and laboratory tests, and interprets test results.
  4. 4. Performs treatment procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
  5. 5. Develops and implements patient management plans, enters and completes all postoperative orders for same-day surgery patients, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
  6. 6. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  7. 7. Perform thorough chart reviews and chart checks to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
  8. 8. Conduct hospital rounds, respond to inpatient consults, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient plans of care; perform wound care, assess surgical incisions, conduct pulse and vascular examinations, review laboratory results, manage IV fluids, Foley catheters, and medications; coordinate daily disposition planning, complete patient transfers and downgrades, consult with appropriate services regarding transfer of care, and complete all discharges and follow-up planning with appropriate documentation.
  9. 9. Perform comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pre-operative evaluations to confirm readiness for surgery, including review of consents, laboratory results, imaging, medication reconciliation, and perioperative requirements.
  10. 10. Provide support to scheduled outpatient office hours to evaluate, treat, and follow up with patients; answer and triage patient calls; review and coordinate ordered surgical cases; complete patient forms and documentation; and conduct peer-to-peer insurance reviews to support authorization and continuity of care.
  11. 11. Triage patient phone calls, review and communicate test results, and elevate clinical concerns appropriately.
  12. 12. Performs other related duties as assigned in support of clinical operations for vascular surgery practice.
