Job summary

Atlantic Health in Morristown, NJ is seeking a clinician to work alongside physicians and deliver advanced primary and specialty nursing services to children and adults. You will provide general and preventative care, perform check-ups, treat illnesses, order tests, and participate in prescribing medications.

The schedule is flexible with 8-10 hour shifts on weekdays and weekends, and opportunities to take additional shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Treat patients under the direction of a physician and educate on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disorders or diseases.
  • Evaluate patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and gather health history and exam results.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging.
  • Perform injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
  • Develop patient management plans and document postoperative orders for same-day surgery.
  • Counsel patients on compliance with therapies, growth, family planning and health maintenance.
  • Review charts for accuracy, completeness and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct hospital rounds, respond to inpatient consults, coordinate care plans and discharges.
  • Perform pre-operative evaluations to confirm readiness for surgery.
  • Support outpatient office hours, triage calls, coordinate surgical cases and complete patient forms.
  • Triage calls, review test results, and escalate clinical concerns as needed.
  • Perform related duties to support vascular surgery practice.

Job description

Responsible for working alongside physicians and facilitating advanced primary and specialty nursing services. Provides general and preventative care for children and adults, perform check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests, and prescribe medication.

The schedule for this position varies working 8-10 hour shifts weekdays and/or weekends with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts.

Principal Accountabilities
  • 1. Responsible for treating and providing health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a physician. Educates patients on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders or diseases. Assists patients in the management of chronic diseases and illnesses and promotes health and wellness.
  • 2. Evaluates patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and gathers patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • 3. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, ultrasounds, radiology and laboratory tests, and interprets test results.
  • 4. Performs treatment procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
  • 5. Develops and implements patient management plans, enters and completes all postoperative orders for same-day surgery patients, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
  • 6. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • 7. Perform thorough chart reviews and chart checks to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
  • 8. Conduct hospital rounds, respond to inpatient consults, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient plans of care; perform wound care, assess surgical incisions, conduct pulse and vascular examinations, review laboratory results, manage IV fluids, Foley catheters, and medications; coordinate daily disposition planning, complete patient transfers and downgrades, consult with appropriate services regarding transfer of care, and complete all discharges and follow-up planning with appropriate documentation.
  • 9. Perform comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pre-operative evaluations to confirm readiness for surgery, including review of consents, laboratory results, imaging, medication reconciliation, and perioperative requirements.
  • 10. Provide support to scheduled outpatient office hours to evaluate, treat, and follow up with patients; answer and triage patient calls; review and coordinate ordered surgical cases; complete patient forms and documentation; and conduct peer-to-peer insurance reviews to support authorization and continuity of care.
  • 11. Triage patient phone calls, review and communicate test results, and escal clinical concerns appropriately.
  • 12. Performs other related duties as assigned in support of clinical operations for vascular surgery practice.
