Job summary

Piedmont Heart Institute is recruiting a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join Piedmont Augusta Hospital, supporting the In-patient Vascular Service. Rounding inpatients and first assisting in the OR, with occasional clinic crossover.

This role offers exposure to a leading cardiology program with comprehensive cardiovascular services, including electrophysiology, transplant, advanced heart failure, and interventional care, all within Piedmont Augusta Hospital.

Qualifications

• PA: Graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board
• NP: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

• Ambulatory care responsibilities include patient assessment and diagnostic/therapeutic procedures.
• Take patient histories, conduct examinations, write progress notes, prepare patient workups and summaries and develop therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explains necessity, preparation, nature and effects of procedures to patients and families.
• Monitors progress of patients and reports to supervising physician; maintains records of progress.
• This autonomous Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for vascular inpatient, as well as clinic coverage, and will assist in the OR as needed.

Piedmont Heart Institute is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join the team at our Piedmont Augusta Hospital. This position will support the In-patient Vascular Service and includes both inpatient rounding and first assisting in the OR. Some occasional crossover may be required in the clinic setting.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

Ambulatory care responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

a. Assesses patient and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribes necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.

b. Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, writes progress notes, prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings, obtains psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assumes responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.

c. Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedure(s) to the patient, patient's family, and staff.

d. Monitors progress of patients, reports progress to supervising physician, and maintains record of each patient's progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.

e. This autonomous Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for Vascular inpatient, as well as Clinic coverage, and will assist in the OR as needed.
