Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for trauma, general surgery, burn care, and vascular surgery. This role provides full inpatient clinical support, educates NP/medical students, and coordinates with nurses and counselors.

Night shift coverage is required, with a 12-hour schedule Sunday through Saturday at Hillcrest. The NP will manage trauma resuscitation, surgical patient care, and develop policies for patient management.

Qualifications

• Must be graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• California RN license, California NP license, and Furnishing License Certification.
• Current Acute Care NP Certification (AGACNP or ACNP).
• BLS and ACLS certifications at time of hire, with commitment to obtain ART within six months.
• Minimum one year of recent work experience as a licensed NP in critical care, acute surgery, or trauma.
• Knowledge of operating room standards and techniques.
• Ability to write orders and reports and to communicate with a wide range of health care personnel.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical support in inpatient management, trauma resuscitation, and consultations.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate treatments for critically ill/injured patients.
• Develop and provide patient education.
• Participate in quality assurance programs.
