Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care services to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. You will assess patients, diagnose, develop treatment plans and prescribe medications in accordance with clinical guidelines.

Responsibilities include educating patients on self-management and coordinating care with a team. A recruitment/relocation sign-on bonus may be offered to eligible candidates; a REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025.

Qualifications

• This position requires a graduate or higher-level nursing degree with APN licensure and active RN/APN credentials.
• Certification and licensure in nursing practice are required for Advanced Practice Nurse positions.
• Background checks and compliance with federal hiring requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret patient histories, symptoms, and diagnostic information to inform diagnoses.
• Develop and implement treatment plans based on evidence and guidelines.
• Diagnose or treat acute health problems, illnesses, infections, and injuries.
• Prescribe medications with attention to safety and dosing frequencies.
• Educate patients on self-management and disease prevention tailored to individual needs.
