Job summary

Penn State Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join the Surgical Oncology – Urology team in Camp Hill, PA. The NP will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for patients with urologic cancers, from preoperative evaluation through postoperative follow-up.

The role involves collaboration with urologic oncologists and a multidisciplinary team, with varied shifts and rewarding opportunities to impact cancer care and patient families.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with surgical oncology conditions.
• Conduct patient evaluations, obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and develop individualized care plans.
• Collaborate with surgical oncologists and multidisciplinary care teams to coordinate treatment planning and continuity of care.
• Manage preoperative and postoperative patient care, including patient education, symptom management, wound assessment, and recovery monitoring.
• Participate in inpatient and/or outpatient clinical responsibilities as assigned.
• Monitor patient progress, identify complications, and coordinate appropriate interventions and follow-up care.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory studies within the scope of practice.
• Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with applicable regulations and organizational policies.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and ongoing care needs.
• Document clinical encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Support quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, and patient safety efforts.
• Perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned.
