Summary

The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Ill Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Surgical Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

1. English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless proficient in basic written and spoken English.
2. Education: Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing by ACEN or CCNE. Alternatively, individuals in a master's level bridge program with equivalent coursework, or graduates of foreign schools with current registration and degree validation, meet the requirements.
3. Current licensure: Full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a US State, Territory, or District of Columbia.
4. Additional notes: Candidates without licensure may be appointed as a Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) temporarily while pursuing licensure.
