Job summary

University of California, San Francisco seeks a Nursing Administration Supervisor to oversee nurse practitioners responsible for patient evaluation, testing, diagnosis, plans of care, and treatment within a clinical department. You will lead the team to meet department goals and ensure high-quality patient care.

The role requires a Master’s in a health care field, 5+ years of APP clinical experience, California licensure by specialty, and strong HR, communication and supervision skills.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a health care related field from an accredited program.
  • 5+ years APP clinical employment experience in healthcare within the past 7 years.
  • Experience supervising clinicians and managing complex workflows.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR policies, staff evaluation and reporting.
  • California licensure in specialty and current CPR/ACLS as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise nurse practitioners responsible for patient evaluation, testing, diagnosis, plans of care and treatment.
  • Coordinate with department leadership to align with goals and policy.
  • Train, monitor, and develop APP staff and document performance.

Job description

Supervises nurse practitioners (NP or NPs) responsible for patient evaluation, testing, diagnosis, plans of care, and treatment within a clinical department or specialty practice area. As a supervisor, receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the processes by which to attain them.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree required in a health care related field from an accredited program.
  • A minimum of 1 (compensatory with supervisor position) Year of related healthcare management or Nurse Practitioner III or Senior Physician Assistant experience and 5 (compensatory with supervisor position) years of APP clinical employment experience within the past 7 years in a healthcare setting or 5 (compensatory with supervisor position) years of recent CRNA or CNM experience in a highly matrixed healthcare organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a team and to manage the complex workflow and competing priorities involved with providing quality care as an Advanced Practitioner.
  • Advanced experience in clinical specialty supervising APPs.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document staff issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.
  • In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards, systems, external regulations and internal policies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively supervise clinicians, manage complex workflow and multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and problem solving with all levels of management and staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.
  • Working knowledge of human resources management practices and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document APP performance.
  • Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and data management systems used in clinics / clinical departments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification
Licensure / Certification

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.

  • Current California licensure in good standing by specialty:
  • RN/NP
  • Physician Assistant
  • RN/CRNA
  • RN/CNM
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License.
  • Possess National Provider Identification (NPI)
  • Furnishing license as required by specialty
  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification
  • National board certification in area of clinical practice upon hire
