Qualifications

• To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
• Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations; you will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
• Degree and License Waiting Period for Impending Graduates: may elect to utilize flexibility wherein applicants who are currently enrolled and expected to complete the required education and obtain licensure within 9 months may be deemed tentatively qualified.
• Documentation from the educational institution's registrar or official attests to completion timeframe AND a copy of the most recent unofficial transcript.
• This education must be accredited by recognized bodies; unofficial transcripts accepted in application packages.
• If using foreign education, you must submit a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript.
• Advanced Practice Nurse positions require licensure in the clinical specialty.
• National licensure requirement: must hold current, active NP license.
• Basic Requirements for GS-11/GS-12 levels: specialized experience and advanced practice qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret patient histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
• Develop treatment plans based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
• Diagnose or treat acute health care problems such as illnesses, infections, and injuries.
• Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, dosage and frequencies.
• Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances.
