The role includes bedside care when not needed in NP duties, education for patients and families, and ensuring ethical, safe treatment in Phase 1-3 trials. LATITUDE: Los Angeles-based outpatient setting.
The Clinical and Translational Research Center is an outpatient facility that services the needs of clinical researchers within the UCLA HealthSystem. Patients on Phase 1, 2 and 3 clinical trials receive treatment, including investigational infusions and pharmacokinetic blood draws, both in the CTRC and from CTRC nurses in mobile assignments throughout the health system. CTRC nurses work closely with principle investigators and coordinators to ensure accurate and ethical clinical research care. The Research NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate \"standardized procedures\" (SP).
By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition, and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725). The Research NP will also provide and coordinate the care of clinical research patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care. When not needed in the NP role, the Research NP will participate in bedside care as a registered nurse. In the Research NP role, the NP will promote the ethical care of research patients and liaison with principle investigators toca for clinical trial patients, as well as provide education and support, make appropriate referrals and document services rendered.
Salary range: $98.95/hourly
