Job summary

Meritus Health in Hagerstown, MD is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team. You will manage medical care outside psychiatric settings for patients aged 8 and above, with an average daily volume of about 15 patients plus labs and EKG reviews.

The role requires MD licensure as an NP in Maryland, DEA/CDS, BLS, and ERP/EHR access, with ACLS/PALS as applicable. Core duties include histories, H&Ps, consults, and chronic condition follow-ups.

Qualifications

• Master's in Nursing required; Doctorate preferred; completion of a Certified NP program.
• Five years’ experience as a Registered Nurse; One-year experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
• License to practice as Nurse Practitioner in Maryland required; DEA/CDS; BLS/ACLS/PALS as applicable.
• Fluency with ICD-10 and CPT; access to an EHR system.

Responsibilities

• Complete History & Physicals for new admissions within 24 hours.
• Provide medical consults upon request from psychiatrists.
• Conduct follow-ups for chronic conditions and lab value reviews.
• Independently read EKGs; cardiologist oversight not required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education - Masters in Nursing required. Doctorate Degree in Nursing Preferred. Completion of a Certified Nurse Practitioner program.
• Experience - Five years’ experience as a Registered Nurse. One-year experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
• Licensure/Certification - License to practice as Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland required. Current DEA Registration and CDS permit required. Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy required. ACLS and PALS (if applicable) in compliance with policy required. For Wound Center only, ACLS in compliance with policy required.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Demonstrates critical thinking, extensive clinical competence and expertise. Demonstrated ability to work well with all disciplines at all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Fluency in coding, ICD-10 and CPT, or commitment to acquire. Will have EHR computer access.

Schedule & Work Model

• No after-hours call – your evenings are yours.

Patient Care & Responsibilities

• Average daily volume: ~15 patients, plus lab reviews and EKG interpretation
• Scope: All medical management outside of psychiatric care (low to moderate complexity)
• Age range: Patients 8 years and older
• Procedures: Minimal – mostly cerumen removal and occasional wound care
