Advanced education as a Nurse Practitioner

Job description

Summary: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
  • Demonstrate leadership and collaborate with the Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Order and interpret labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
  • Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
  • Initiate referrals and consults to specialty services.
  • Provide education to patients and their families.
  • Assess and adjust the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Licensed independent Nurse Practitioner with advanced education and national certification.
  • 1 full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
  • Working availability: Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm (varying tours).
  • Telework: Not available; this position is non‑virtual.
  • Authorization for relocation or recruitment incentives may be granted for highly qualified candidates. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply for incentives.
